The cams base diameter is significantly smaller than the stock cam so any lash shims that you had originally are off considerably.
Throw in cam housing gasket thickness difference. Cam housing depth. And valve job stem height.
You are going to be doing a valve adjustment period.

Few things I can tell you about these cams: base circle is smaller so rather than use very thick shims just eliminate gaskets between cam box and head and use a sealant like yamabond or similar ( NOT rtv). You’ll end up with shims approx. like stock thickness ( you will need to measure all valves). Also, be sure to raise compression over stock or you WILL be down on torque. Lastly, these WILL work with factory fuel injection as long as you slightly bump ignition timing and make some adjustments to the airflow meter.

Q & A

Does this billet cam have a reduced base circle. Graeme Birtley asked on March 22, 2024

Hello,

Yes. All performance cams for this style of engine REQUIRE a reduced base circle. If you don't reduce the base and make a "performance" cam for this engine then you cannot install the cam into the cam tower.
We have seen one person make such a thing and to install them they had to machine notches into the cam holders in the cam tower. This is simply not a feasible request for most people to do. So again all performance cams for these engines require a reduced base circle.

If you're asking because of a misunderstanding about valve shims please rest assured there are shims up to 5.20mm and there are lash caps that can raise the shim bucket up 1.50mm.

Thanks

Do these cams require adjustable pulleys? Are they suitable for 1608cc? Peter Gintoli asked on October 9, 2023

Hello,

They technically do not, but you can use them if you want.
Yes they will work in any 124 based DOHC engine.

Thanks
